All But 1 Bed-Stuy ZIP Code Reach 50-Percent Vaccine Rate: Data
Half of adults are now partially vaccinated in four of the five ZIP codes that make up the neighborhood, data shows.
BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — After lagging other parts of New York City and the borough as a whole, nearly all of Bed-Stuy has reached the halfway mark in getting its residents vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Four of the five ZIP codes that span Bed-Stuy had reached the 50-percent vaccination rate on Friday, meaning half of the residents over 18 in each had gotten at least the first dose of the vaccine, city data shows. The northern 11205 and 11206 ZIP codes were the last of the four to reach the milestone.
Only 11233, which has consistently had one of the lowest vaccination rates in the city, had not reached the 50-percent mark. As of Friday, 39 percent of adults had been partially vaccinated in the ZIP code, which includes the eastern portion of Bed-Stuy, as well as parts of Brownsville and Ocean Hill.
