Bed-Stuy: Meet Your New Local Politicians

There were no surprises in Bed-Stuy this election — but there are some new hands to shake.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Local Democrats performed as well as expected in Bed-Stuy on Election Day, running the table from the State Assembly to the State Senate.

Some new faces emerged as well, such as Tremaine S. Wright, who will take over for retiring Democratic incumbent Annette Robinson in the 56th State Assembly District. In the New York City Civil Court, Odessa Kennedy joined the ranks of incumbents Jacqueline D. Williams and Dena E. Douglas. The trio defeated Conservative candidate Vincent F. Martusciello and Reform candidate John Meringolo.

In the 25th State Senate District, Velmanette Montgomery ran away with a landslide victory in a three-way race against Republican candidate Mamie Rose and Independent candidate Michael G. Cox.
