Bed-Stuy Survey Asks Shoppers To Help Shape Commercial District
The survey is part of a project to understand the needs of the neighborhood's businesses going into 2021.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A project aimed at helping the neighborhood's business corridors in the wake of the coronavirus crisis is hoping to gain insight from New Yorkers who shop in Bed-Stuy.
Council Member Robert Cornegy Jr., the city's Department of Small Business Services and Bridge Street Development have launched a "Bed-Stuy Consumer Survey" as part of a Commercial District Need Assessment they are creating for the neighborhood.
"Feedback from consumers is very important to outlining the needs and views of the community on the business corridors in our community," Cornegy wrote.

The shoppers' survey follows a "Bed-Stuy Merchant Survey" released earlier this month to help gather feedback from the neighborhood's businesses.
The consumer survey is aimed at those who shop on Dekalb Avenue, Bedford Avenue, Nostrand Avenue, Fulton Street, Tompkins Avenue or Malcolm X Boulevard, according to Cornegy. It takes roughly five minutes to complete and can be found here.

The survey comes as, like the rest of New York City, Bed-Stuy enters a new year of responding to the economic woes of the coronavirus crisis.
Experts fear the financial strain could close a third of small businesses in the city. It has already left a drastic number of vacant storefronts throughout the five boroughs.
Bed-Stuy was no exception. Patch recently began compiling a listof businesses that were lost last year.
