Bed-Stuy Teen Shot Dead In East New York: Cops

BROOKLYN, NY — A Bed-Stuy teenager was found shot dead in East New York on Monday night, according to police.

Cops found Shaheem Bascom, 18, with a gunshot wound to his chest near Hegeman Avenue and Linwood Street just after 11:30 p.m., police said. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are investigating the possibility that Bascom, who lived in the Tompkins Houses, was on his way to meet a woman he met online, according to the Daily News.

There were no arrests in the incident as of Tuesday morning.
