Bed-Stuy Woman Charged With Stealing $243k From NY Sheriff's Trust Account
Kasara Wilson spent the deposited check money on designer jewelry, clothing and cars, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney's office.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A Bed-Stuy woman who worked as a tax auditor was charged on Tuesday with depositing checks written for the Queens and Kings County sheriff accounts into her personal accounts to buy designer clothes and jewelry, plastic surgery and lease a car, the Brooklyn District Attorney's office said.
Kasara Wilson, 30, was working as a tax auditor for the New York City Sheriff's Office when she deposited $243,000 worth of checks from sheriffs' trust accounts into her accounts with Municipal Credit Union and JP Morgan Chase in 2013, according to the Brooklyn DA.
Wilson was charged with grand larceny and an administrative code violation for failure to account to comptroller. She was held on $20,000 bond and has her next day in court March 29. She faces up to 15 years in prison.

Investigators found that Wilson spent the money she deposited on a trip to Miami, the leasing of a Nissan and then an Infiniti, $1,950 on plastic surgery, $1,600 on Christian Louboutin clothes, over $3,500 at Diamond Hut Jewelry, over $400 at Gucci, over $1,500 at Michael Kors and over $9,500 at Raymour & Flanigan.
"What this defendant allegedly did was the ultimate betrayal of trust, taking money she was charged with safekeeping and spending it on her own lavish lifestyle," said acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez in a statement.
