Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival To Blend In-Person, Virtual Events
The One Brooklyn Jazz festival, which comes after a postponed spring series, will kick off this weekend across the borough.
BROOKLYN, NY — Brooklynites who missed the live music of the One Brooklyn Jazz Festival this spring are in luck.
The holiday season installment of the One Brooklyn festival, put on by the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium, will kick off this weekend with a mix of in-person, pre-recorded and live-streamed shows.
The December series comes after the One Brooklyn spring festival was postponed for the first time in 21 years due to the coronavirus pandemic. It instead was held virtually.

This time around, Central Brooklyn Jazz will bring back the in-person live shows by partnering with local restaurants and cultural institutions, though at a much smaller scale than in past years.
“Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium’s holiday music series, One Brooklyn Jazz Festival, is an exciting multi-cultural jazz presentation celebrating our borough’s diversity through jazz,” CBJC Chairman Clarence Mosley, Jr. said in a release. “This festival will aid in rejuvenating Brooklyn’s nightlife economy.”

The Festival will kick off Dec. 4 and run through Dec. 13.
It will include performances at restaurants and cultural institutions located in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, East New York, Gowanus, and Lefferts Gardens. Participating organizations and restaurants include Connection Works, Fusion East, Nostrand Social, Prospect Lefferts Gardens Arts, ShapeShifter Lab, Sistas’ Place, Sugar Hill Supper Club, Williamsburg Music Center and Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium.
Those who want to see the in-person shows should make a reservation, given limited capacity. All venues will comply with social distancing guidelines, the organization said.
The live shows will be accompanied by livestreams and pre-recorded performances.
Central Brooklyn's music series is New York City’s longest continuously running grassroots festival dedicated to jazz. It is supported by the NYC & Company Foundation, One Brooklyn Fund, Inc. and the Office of The Brooklyn Borough President.
