BROOKLYN, NY — A man who sexually assaulted a woman in Brooklyn when she told him she only had $20 during a violent mugging last week has been caught, according to police.

Kelvin Williams, 31, was charged Wednesday with attempted robbery, assault, sex-motivated assault, sex abuse, criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment and attempted assault for the April 19 attack on Siegel Street, police said.

Williams is accused of grabbing a 24-year-old woman by the throat on the corner of White Street and Seigel Street, pushing her agains the wall and demanding money, police said.

When the woman said she only had $20, Williams dragged her down Siegel Street, pushed her against a parked car and began sexually abusing her, police said.

A person who was inside the parked car witnessed the attack, police said.

Williams did not end up taking any property from the woman, and had last been seen heading into the Montrose Avenue L station, police said.
