Coronavirus Closes 3 More Brooklyn School Buildings: DOE
Two Brooklyn buildings will be closed for two weeks and another for 24 hours after multiple coronavirus cases detected at the schools.
BROOKLYN, NY — Three more Brooklyn schools closed this week after multiple coronavirus cases were detected in their buildings, according to the Department of Education.
P.S. 380 on Marcy Avenue, P.S. 108 in Cypress Hills and Fort Hamilton High School were among the 11 New York City schools marked closed on the department's map of active COVID-19 cases on Friday.
Per DOE policy, a school building is closed when there are at least two cases from different classrooms, from an activity or exposure outside of school or when the link between them cannot be determined, according to the DOE.

In each case, the building is temporarily closed while the DOE starts an investigation into the cases. In the scenario when a link between the cases cannot be determined, the school is closed for 14 days, according to the guidelines.
The latter seems to be the case at P.S. 380 and P.S. 108, where the school buildings were closed Wednesday and will stay shutdown for a two-week period until Nov. 3, the map shows.

At Fort Hamilton High School, the school is under a 24-hour closure.
The three Brooklyn buildings are the latest to be closed in the borough because of coronavirus cases since schools started to reopen in September. Most recently a South Slope school closed for 24 hours after three cases were detected at the school.
There have been at least 600 coronavirus cases in New York City's public schools since the return of students to in-person classes.
As of Friday, there were more than 30 buildings with at least one active case in Brooklyn.
