BROOKLYN, NY — A 33-year-old cyclist has died after being hit by a city bus in Brooklyn on Wednesday, police said.

Adrian De Los Santos and the MTA bus were both heading north on Graham Avenue near Metropolitan Avenue when they collided, for unknown reasons, according to police. The crash is under instigation by the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad.

De Los Santos, who the Daily News reported had been on his way to work, was found lying in the road with trauma to his leg and torso, police said. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash is at least the second fatal collision at the Graham and Metropolitan avenues intersection in recent years.

Activist group Transportation Alternatives called on the city Thursday to add safety improvements to the intersection.

“The Mayor has known this street is unsafe, has known the proven measures that prevent deaths, but has chosen not to act," Executive Director Danny Harris said. "This is inexcusable...No New Yorker should fear death or injury on our streets. Mayor de Blasio, we demand action now.”
