NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio hosted a weather-themed press conference in Brooklyn at the height of Monday’s heat, where he advised New Yorkers to avoid the outdoors and seek immediate air-conditioning amid this dangerous heat wave.
However, he also used the occasion to show of his green side.

“Keep your thermostat set to 78 degrees” in order to save energy, he reportedly urged at the press conference. And according to the Brooklyn Eagle, he practices his preach:
When asked by a reporter what the thermostat was set to at City Hall, press secretary Karen Hinton assured reporters that it was set to 78 degrees.

Residents can also stop by one of the city’s 500 cooling centers or public pools up until 8 p.m.
