Democrat Ken Thompson has large lead in polls.
Early results have Democratic nominee Ken Thompson with a commanding lead over incumbent Charles Hynes.
According to the New York Times, Thompson leads by 70.2 percent with 14 percent of the precincts reporting.
Thompson defeated Hynes in the Democratic primary, but Hynes then ran on the Republican ticket at the urge of party leaders.Â
