Franklin Ave Station To Lose Elevators For Months-Long Project
The Bed-Stuy subway station will be getting its elevators replaced, meaning they won't be available starting Monday until next Spring.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — The Franklin Avenue subway station will be without its elevators as the MTA works to replace the out-of-date lifts.
The MTA will start a months-long elevator replacement at the Fulton Street and Franklin Avenue subway station on Monday, July 27, according to a message shared by Community Board 3.
The replacement — which will switch out the out-of-date elevators with new ones —is expected to continue into Spring of 2021, transit officials said.

During the project, elevators will not be accessible at the station.
Those who need elevators should use bus service to get to other nearby accessible stations, including Jay Street-Metro Tech and Utica Avenue for A/C service and Prospect Park for B/Q/S service, officials said.

The MTA also notified the neighborhood that a staging area for ht project will be set up in the parking lane on the north side of Fulton Street, between Franklin Avenue and Classon Avenue.
The staging area will be 70 feet in length and will require the temporary loss of approximately five parking spots for the duration of the project.
"We appreciate the community's patience as we make these necessary improvements," MTA officials wrote. "When completed, customers will be able to utilize new elevators with modernized components and enjoy a smoother, more reliable ride."
