Gowanus Canal's Union Street Bridge To Close For 10 Days: DOT
The bridge will be closed for maintenance starting Wednesday, transportation officials said.

BROOKLYN, NY — One of the five bridges over the Gowanus Canal will close this week for repairs, transportation officials announced.
The Union Street will fully close down between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. from Wednesday, June 2 to next Friday, June 11 for maintenance work, the Department of Transportation said.
During the closure, Brooklynites can use Carroll Street or Baltic Street for alternate routes across the canal, officials said. The Carroll Street bridge, which is currently closed, is slated to reopen before the Union Street bridge shuts down.

The Union Street bridge is one of the oldest bridges that offers a path over the waterway. It was originally built, like the Third Street bridge, in 1905.
It has two traffic lanes, both of which go east, and two sidewalks.

Maintenance on the #UnionStBridge will result in a FULL bridge closure during June 2021. The bridge will be closed every day from 6/2-6/11, 7AM-7PM. The Carroll St Bridge will reopen prior to this closure. Either Carroll St or Baltic St can be used as alternative routes. pic.twitter.com/rdrYjQkMOd
