BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A local boxer is being hunted by NYPD detectives after allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face and sending her to the hospital in critical condition early Tuesday morning.

Police have accused Josh Luteran, 30, of assaulting his 38-year-old girlfriend during an argument inside their shared home near Bedford and Jefferson avenues around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

"The suspect fled the scene and the victim was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical but stable condition," the NYPD said in a news release.

Luteran's girlfriend was still hospitalized as of Tuesday evening, a police spokesman told Patch.

Luteran appears in various photos and videos around the web competing in what appear to be amateur boxing matches.

As recently as April 8, his girlfriend posted a photo to Facebook of the two of them together. (See below.)

The NYPD said Tuesday that Luteran, who stands around 5-feet-10-inches tall, was last seen wearing "a black skull cap, jacket and black sweatpants."

Anyone with information regarding Luteran's whereabouts is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. For Spanish, call 1-888-57-PISTA. Tips can also be submitted online or by texting 274637, then entering TIP577.
