Lanes Close As Construction Starts On Brooklyn, Manhattan Bridges
Pedestrians, cyclists and cars should know about these closures on the two Brooklyn bridges for the next week.

BROOKLYN, NY — Construction on the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges will close various traffic and pedestrian lanes on the Brooklyn-Manhattan connectors throughout the next week, according to transportation officials.
The first round of construction started on the Brooklyn Bridge on Tuesday and is set to last until early February, the Department of Transportation said. Both projects are part of "bridge rehabilitation," according to the department.
The work will close Brooklyn-bound lane closures between midnight and 6 a.m until Feb. 5 and Manhattan-bound lane closures between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Friday until Feb. 1.

The work starting on Friday will also narrow the promenade at the bridge's towers between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. each day, making it so cyclists crossing the bridge will have to dismount. Flaggers will be at either end of the work zone to guide pedestrians and cyclists, the department said.
That work will last until Feb. 1 as well.
