Man Confesses To Bed-Stuy Hit-And-Run And Car Chase

UPDATE JAN. 26: Foy is being held in Kings County on $10,000 cash bail, the Brooklyn DA said. BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A man confessed to the hit-and-run of a 71-year-old woman in Bed-Stuy two weeks ago during a police car chase down Myrtle Avenue, cops confirmed to Patch. Thirty-four-year-old Todd Foy turned himself in to Bed-Stuy's 79th precinct facility on Tuesday night and was arrested inside the precinct, police said. Foy was charged with grand larceny, assault, burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless endangerment, the NYPD said.

Foy had stolen a woman's purse in Williamsburg on Jan. 10, the night of the car chase, cops said. Police approached to arrest him for the theft when he got into a gold Dodge van and led the police on a car chase through Williamsburg and Bed-Stuy, witnesses told Patch the night of the chase.

Driving "like a bat out of hell" according to one witness, Foy hit a 71-year-old woman on Myrtle Avenue in Bed-Stuy at around 5:30 p.m. and rammed into several parked cars, including one police car. He drove onto several sidewalks in close range of dozens of pedestrians. He was able to flee the scene on foot, cops said. The hit-and-run victim suffered a broken leg and was taken to Brooklyn Hospital Center, police said.

Foy was expected to be arraigned Thursday afternoon, according to the Brooklyn DA's office.
