The fight broke out at Clinton-Washington station just after 1:30 p.m. when the grandson — who was traveling with his 73-year-old grandma and 82-year-old grandpa — got into an argument with Hernandez, who was smoking a cigarette in the station, police said.
Hernandez then "rushed" the grandson and started punching him in the face, police said.

He also took a swing at the grandfather, who tried to help his grandson, police said.
The grandmother then stepped in to try and break up the fight and was knocked onto the southbound tracks as a train was coming into the station, police said.
She was able to avoid getting hit, but landed in the hospital with severe head injuries, according to police. The grandson was also admitted to the hospital with severe head injuries.
The grandfather, who had a laceration on his head, got stitches and was released, police said.
