Watch: 'Milkshake Squirrel' Is the 'Pizza Rat' Sequel New York Deserves

Video has emerged of a squirrel dragging a Shake Shack milkshake from a Madison Square Park trash can — and downing the entire thing.

New York City watched in shared anguish on Monday as a small subway rat tried — and failed — to drag a slice of pizza three times his size down the stairs of the First Avenue L station in Manhattan.

But by Tuesday, we got the sequel we deserved.

In this urban wildlife mini-doc shot by Brooklyn director and animator Alisa Stern, a superhero of a common squirrel manages to fish a half-full milkshake (from Shake Shack, of course) out of a Madison Square Park trash can.

And once milkshake squirrel has secured his shake safely on park soil, he nibbles with unwavering resolve at its lid until it pops off — giving him full access to New York’s favorite goo stuff.

Stern told Patch that milkshake squirrel kept drinking the shake “for a quite a while” before jumping back in the trash can. “But he didn’t steal anything else,” she said.

Take notes, pizza rat.
