Mother Of 2 Killed By Drunk Driver In Brooklyn: Cops

Lakierdra Thomas was crossing the street near Graham Avenue and Broadway when the driver, charged with manslaughter, hit her, police said.

BROOKLYN, NY — A New Jersey man has been charged with manslaughter and driving while intoxicated after hitting and killing a woman crossing the street in Brooklyn on Friday, police said.

Lakierdra Thomas, 32, was crossing near Graham Avenue and Broadway just before 1 p.m. when she was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee, police said.

Thomas, who lived about a mile away from the crash, had been on her way to buy gifts for her two children after getting her nails done, family told the New York Daily News.

She was pronounced dead at Woodhull Hospital, police said.

The driver of the Grand Cherokee, 47-year-old Uri Hochberg, was arrested at the scene of the crash, police said. He was charged with manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.
