
An urgent heat advisory for all five New York City boroughs, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) on Sunday morning, will remain in effect until this evening.
So will an NWS air quality alert.
“Prolonged exposure” to Monday’s high heat and humidity “will result in heat exhaustion or heat stroke,” warns the NWS. Residents are advised to seek air-conditioned or shaded areas whenever possible.

And due to higher-than-usual levels of pollutants in the air, the NWS recommends ”limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. “
Monday’s high of around 94 degrees will roll in around 3 p.m., according to various forecasts.

However, that could feel more like 102 degrees, AccuWeather reports.
“A broad ridge of high pressure is set over the eastern half of the U.S., which is the dominating driver for the uncomfortable weather in and around the region,” says AccuWeather meteorologist Michael Priante.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 80s on Tuesday but cool off around mid-week.
