Quarantine Demand Blooms 2nd Location For Bed-Stuy Flower Shop
Brooklyn Blooms will open a second location next week after business "exploded" from New Yorkers stuck at home the past year.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A year of New Yorkers stuck at home during the coronavirus crisis has bloomed new opportunities for at least one Bed-Stuy business.
Brooklyn Blooms, a floral boutique on Nostrand Avenue, will open its second location next week after a year of increased demand during the New York City's lockdown.
“During the pandemic, business exploded,” shop owner LaParis Lynn Phillips said. “Flowers were a very popular purchase during the lockdown since many people were stuck in their homes.”

The new location, found at 1113 Fulton St., will have a soft opening in time for Valentine's Day and will celebrate with a social-distanced grand opening on Feb. 19.
It comes on the heels of Brooklyn Blooms' fifth anniversary in the neighborhood.

Phillips, who moved to New York from Missouri to pursue a fashion career, opened the business in 2017 after finding a passion for floral art.
"Brooklyn Blooms draws inspiration from fashion, nature and art while using flowers as the medium," according to a release. "...The brand believes that everyone is an individual and deserves to have florals tailored just for them, even down to the vessel. By using curated seasonal blooms in interesting found vases Brooklyn Blooms create 'beautiful things out of beautiful things' with its customer in mind."
The new location will let Brooklyn Blooms increase its production so that it can venture into event and wedding services.
The new outpost is part of the Bed-Stuy Gateway BID, which extends along Fulton Street.
