BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Moped-sharing company Revel is planning to build a record-breaking electric charging station in Brooklyn, the company announced Wednesday.

The charging "superhub," set to open the spring on Flushing Avenue, will be the largest universal fast-charging depot in North America, according to the company. It will include 30 chargers for owners of any electric vehicle brand that will be open to the public 24/7.

The hub is the company's first foray into charging since launching its fleet of mopeds in North Brooklyn in 2018. The ride-sharing app has since expanded in Brooklyn, Queens and, most recently, into Manhattan.

"Revel is building the infrastructure of the future and we're building it now — our planet can't wait,” Co-Founder Frank Reig said in a release. “We couldn’t be more excited to bring fast charging to our home borough of Brooklyn and get to work on the first of many Superhubs to come in 2021.”

The charging hub will open at a 600,000-square-foot facility that was once known as the Pfizer Building. It is now owned by Acumen Capital and sits on the border of Williamsburg and Bed-Stuy at 960 Flushing Ave.

Revel is the latest small business to join the eight-acre facility.

“Welcoming Revel as a tenant is a slam dunk for us,” Acumen Co-Founder Jeff Rosenblum said. “Our mission with the Pfizer building has been to transform a historic site into a home for forward-thinking companies, and electrification truly is the future. We’re excited to give this space new life once again by hosting Revel’s first fast chargers.”

The moped-sharing company also partnered with Tritium, whose model will make up the first 10 chargers at the Brooklyn site. The superhub is set to open this spring, Revel said.
