SEE: Public Art Installations Transform Brooklyn's Myrtle Avenue
The colorful installations are popping up on the corridor thanks to summer events that allowed neighbors to help create art.
BROOKLYN, NY — Brooklynites walking down Myrtle Avenue might notice some new colorful additions to the corridor.
Public art installations have popped up on the street thanks to summer events that brought neighbors and artists together to create the colorful masterpieces, according to the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership.
“With neighbors coming outdoors and looking to make the most out of summer 2021, it was the perfect opportunity to commission local artists and engage community members in bringing colorful backdrops and creative visuals to Myrtle Avenue’s streetscape,” Partnership Executive Director Chad Purkey said in a release this week.

Among the art is a collection of colorful panels added to the chain link fence between Ryerson and Hall streets, which was created with the help of neighbors and residents from ICL’sTillary Street Women’s Shelter., who added the panels during one of the Partnership's Summer Nights events.
The installation was led by local artist Rashida Abuwala and included donated supplies from Blick Art Materials.
