Son Of Executed NYPD Cop Writes Heartbreaking Note For Dad

" ... he was the best father I could ask for."

Rafael “Ralph” Ramos, one of the New York City police officers killed execution-style Saturday, was not just a cop. He was a dad, too.

Shortly after his death, his 13-year-old son, Jaden, posted this message on Facebook.

“Today I had to say bye to my father. He was their for me everyday of my life, he was the best father I could ask for. It’s horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer. Everyone says they hate cops but they are the people that they call for help. I will always love you and I will never forget you. RIP Dad.”

Hours before the shootings, which also claimed the life of 32-year-old officer Wenjian Liu, the killer, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, had written on Instagram: “I’m Putting Wings On Pigs Today. They Take 1 Of Ours…Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,” a reference to police-involved civilian deaths in Missouri and in New York City.

Jaden hadn’t waited until his father was killed before expressing his own feelings. On Dec. 9, accompanying a collage that included photos of himself with his dad, he wrote on his Facebook page:

In response, from his father, “I love you Jaden thank you your the best!”
