Spike Lee Threw Prince a Birthday Party in Brooklyn Last Weekend, and It Was Lit
The party pics are giving us so much FOMO.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Screw Governor's Ball. Anyone in Brooklyn who knew where the real party was at last weekend showed up to Bed-Stuy's Restoration Plaza around noon Saturday for a star-studded, Spike Lee-hosted, three-days-early birthday bash for our dearly beloved Prince Rogers Nelson, sexy even in death.

The Brooklyn film director's first block party for Prince, held on the same evening of that awful day in April on which he died, was an impromptu affair: We all grabbed the first purple-ish item we could find in our closets, one we didn't mind getting soaked in tears and vodka water bottle mist, and gathered in the streets to dance and mourn with abandon.
Saturday's party, true to the birthday boy, was much more done-up. Hundreds of New Yorkers, representing quite literally every age group, came to play in maximum fierceness and purpleness — unprecedented purpleness, perhaps.
