Thief Takes $45k From Man After Lying About Owning Bed-Stuy Property: Cops

Police are looking for 41-year-old Jamal Gantt in connection with the robbery, they said.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Cops are looking for a suspect they say pretended to be the owner of a Crown Heights building and stole $45,000 from a man who purchased the property.

Police are looking for Jamal Gantt, 41, in connection with the robbery, they said.

According to police, on Jan. 28, a 40-year-old man bought a store in front of 820 Franklin Ave. and gave the money to the suspect, who told the victim he was the owner of the property. The incident occurred in Bed-Stuy, at 829 Gates Ave., cops said.

The NYPD released a photo of Gantt and is asking anyone with information in regards to this incident to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
