Urgent Heat Advisory, Air Quality Alert and Hazardous Weather Outlook All Issued for NYC
The killer trifecta.

Summer’s second heat wave is upon us.
Early Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service issued three separate heat-related warnings — all at once — for the New York City area.
First, an urgent ”heat advisory” will be in effect from Tuesday at noon to Wednesday at 6 p.m.

“Prolonged exposure” to Tuesday and Wednesday’s high heat and humidity “will result in heat exhaustion or heat stroke,” warns the NWS. Residents are advised to seek air-conditioned or shaded areas whenever possible.
According to AccuWeather, Tuesday’s high is expected to be 88 degrees, and Wednesday could get as hot as 93 degrees. However, thanks to all this humidity, it’ll feel like it’s well above 100, says Accuweather meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.

Second, due to higher-than-usual levels of pollutants in the air, the NWS has issued an ”air quality alert” and recommends ”limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects.” That ends on Tuesday night at 11 p.m.
And lastly, a “hazardous weather outlook” has been issued for the entire week ahead, due to ongoing surges of heat and humidity.
We may even see some ”severe thunderstorms” on Thursday afternoon and evening, says the NWS, the main threat of which will be ”damaging wind gusts.”
