'Vaccine And Resource Fair' Coming To Bed-Stuy's Fulton Street
The fair, aimed at neighborhoods hard-hit by the pandemic, will include free vaccines and other housing, legal and health initiatives.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A "Vaccine and Resource Fair" hosted by the city is coming to Bed-Stuy this week.
The fair, put on by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, is part of a new initiative to have the department's "Outreach Van" focus on neighborhoods most impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
It will include a mobile vaccine van offering free coronavirus vaccines as well as housing, legal and health services through a group of community-based organizations and city agencies.

“Through the HPD Outreach Van, we are taking our community engagement teams on the road to bring information and services directly to tenants and owners where they live,” said HPD Commissioner Louise Carroll. “I want to thank our tireless staff for their dedication to making sure New Yorkers can access the resources they need to ensure the quality and safety of their homes, and I encourage all New Yorkers to take advantage of these services when HPD is in your neighborhood.”
The Bed-Stuy fair will kick off at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at 2094 Fulton St. and last until 7 p.m.

Groups involved in its organization include Neighbors Together, HPD, NYC Human Rights, NYC Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants, NYC Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit and NYC Health and Hospitals.
New Yorkers who visit can learn about affordable housing opportunities, their rights as a tenant or property owner, financial assistance for property improvements, remedying housing code violations or how to file complaints about landlord harassment or housing code violations.
The resources come as city officials continue to try and reach neighborhoods with low vaccination rates. The 11233 ZIP code where the fair is taking place has been identified as having one of the lowest vaccination rates in the state, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
