Wednesday: A Funeral March, Brooklyn Grind and a House Party for Tish James

  • Weather: Expect generally sunny skies, despite a few afternoon clouds. High 83F. 
  • Today, at 4:00 p.m., Several hundred patients, caregivers, and elected leaders from Central Brooklyn will meet at Cadman Plaza for a "Funeral March" across the Brooklyn Bridge wearing black and carrying coffins to show the impact of healthcare cuts and mourn the death of community hospitals. The event will culminate in a rally at Foley Square.
  • Also today, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., at the home of Jane and Keith Flanders, located at 141 Washington Avenue, there will be a house party in support of Council Member Tish James' bid for Public Advocate. There will be a 6:1 match for contributions up to $175 by NYC residents.
  •  Finally, the indomitable singer, Kellie Sae, tonight will present her monthly series, “Brooklyn Grind” a night featuring independent artists of all genres, from Spoken Word Poetry to Folk, Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul and Beyond! 8:00 p.m. at ShapeShifter Lab, 18 Whitwell Place, Brooklyn, $10.
