Where Not to Drive in Brooklyn This Labor Day Weekend

Major street closures are in effect both Saturday and Sunday to make way for three separate parades.

Three giant parades planned for the streets of Brooklyn over Labor Day weekend will cause widespread street closures, according to the NYPD.

Police provided the following details on which Brooklyn streets would be closed — and at what times — to accommodate the processions.

Consider yourself warned, car people.

WEST INDIAN AMERICAN DAY CARNIVAL (Saturday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

  • Formation: St. John’s Place and Kingston Avenue
  • Route: St. John’s Place between Kingston Avenue and Franklin Avenue; President Street between Franklin Avenue and Washington Avenue
  • Dispersal: Brooklyn Museum Yard
  • Closure: Same as location

INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S DAY PARADE (Sunday, Sept. 6, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.)

  • Formation: Graham Avenue between Metropolitan Avenue and Grand Street
  • Route: Graham Avenue between Grand Street and Debevoise Street
  • Dispersal: Graham Avenue between Debevoise Street and Broadway
  • Closure: Same as location

WEST INDIAN AMERICAN DAY PARADE AND FESTIVAL / LABOR DAY CARNIVAL PARADE (Monday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Formation:

  • Buffalo Avenue between Eastern Parkway and East New York Avenue
  • Rockaway Parkway between East New York Avenue and Rutland Road
  • Ralph Avenue between Eastern Parkway and East New York Avenue
  • East New York Avenue between Howard Avenue and Utica Avenue

Route:

  • Eastern Parkway between Howard Avenue and Grand Army Plaza

Dispersal:

  • Flatbush Avenue between Grand Army Plaza and Caton Avenue

Miscellaneous closures:

  • Ocean Avenue between Empire Boulevard and Parkside Avenue
  • Butler Place between Grand Army Plaza and Sterling Place
  • St. John’s Place between Underhill Avenue and Grand Army Plaza
  • Rochester Avenue between East New York Avenue and Sterling Place
  • Parkside Avenue between Park Circle and Flatbush Avenue
  • Bedford Avenue between Eastern Parkway and Empire Boulevard
  • Empire Boulevard between Flatbush Avenue and Nostrand Avenue
