The man who was accused of stealing a car drove over two private properties trying to get away, police said.

GOLDENS BRIDGE, NY — A New York City man was accused of stealing a car after leading police on a pursuit in northern Westchester. State police said Michael F. Burton Jr., 20, of the Bronx, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony.
Police said, around 2:20 p.m Sept. 24, troopers saw a 2019 BMW 530I traveling at a high rate of speed on I-684 in the Town of Lewisboro. The driver, Burton, failed to comply with attempts to stop the vehicle.
He led troopers on a pursuit to State Route 22, North Street and State Route 138, police said.

Burton tried to evade troopers, authorities said, by driving off the road on properties belonging to Best Plumbing Tile and Stone and John F. Kennedy Catholic High School, causing damage to both.
Police said he returned to Route 138 before attempting to make a turn onto Old Bedford Road. He failed to negotiate the turn because he was going too fast, struck a guide rail and then struck an uninvolved vehicle head-on.

Burton was taken into custody without further incident, and police said the car was found to be stolen.
Both Burton and a rear seat passenger were taken to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation.
After being released from the hospital, Burton was arraigned in the Town of Bedford Court, where he was released on his own recognizance to reappear before the court Oct. 7.
State police said the investigation is on-going.
