Bedford Community Theatre to Present Major Barbara
The classic play is still topical.
Major Barbara is about class privilege, poverty, marriage, and the sale of armaments. Sounds timely, doesn't it? But the play was written by George Bernard Shaw more than 100 years ago. The Bedford Community Theatre will be presenting this rarely performed classic play this weekend and next.
The title character is a member of the Salvation Army, a woman dedicated to helping the poor in London, who is appalled when her organization takes money from her estranged father, a man who made his fortune making weapons. You can see a short video clip of the performance at the theater company's website.
The show features Debra Ablezer, John Barbera, Jennifer DeLancey, Austin Galvin, Robert Grogan, Dana Laite, Laurel Lettieri, Lauron Lewis, James McAlvanah, June O'Neill, Maeve O'Neill, Gene Pope, Steel Swift and Timothy Young. John Thompson is the director.
