Bedford Justice, Accused Of Driving Drunk, Enters Plea In Court

BEDFORD, NY — The Bedford town justice who was accused of driving drunk in 2019 pleaded guilty Tuesday in Rye City Court. Erik Jacobsen, 55, of Bedford Hills, said he was guilty of the charge of misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

Jacobsen will be sentenced Nov. 17 for either three years probation or a conditional discharge, the Journal News reported.

On April 22, Westchester County Police were called to the Saw Mill River Parkway in Mount Kisco about a silver Mercedes being driven erratically.

Jacobsen, who was the driver, was unable to stay in his lane, according to police. When he was stopped, he had the odor of alcohol on his breath and was slurring his speech.

Officers said they tried to remove him from the car, but he gripped the steering wheel and struggled against them.

A stun gun was used on Jacobsen to get him to comply, police said, at which point he was removed from the car and placed in handcuffs.

Jacobsen remains a town employee, but is not allowed to perform any judicial duties. Judicial assistance is provided to the town as necessary.
