Bedford Man, Wanted In Peekskill, Arrested In Bedford: PD

Peekskill police accused the man of stalking, but Bedford police said drugs and a weapon were found at his apartment.

BEDFORD, NY — Bedford police accused a Bedford man of drug and weapons possession after an investigation into a complaint of stalking in Peekskill. Police said Benjamin Guerra, 36, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of felony criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.

On Saturday, Bedford police responded to a Bedford Road address in Bedford Hills, assisting members of the Peekskill Police Department.

They were there to take Guerra into custody regarding a stalking complaint that, police said, occurred in Peekskill.

Later that day, after the 40-year-old woman victim was interviewed, police said she had been menaced with a handgun two weeks prior in Bedford.

Guerra voluntarily allowed a search of his apartment, police said, and they found a loaded firearm with a defaced serial number and a quantity of a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine.

After Guerra was arraigned in Peekskill Monday, he was released into the custody of the Bedford police.

He was arraigned in the Town of Bedford Justice County and released on $5,000 bail.
