Bedford PD: First Woman To Earn The Rank of Lieutenant
Patricia McGraw is the first woman in the 112-year history of the Bedford Police Department to be promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

BEDFORD, NY — It is perhaps fitting that Patricia McGraw made history during Women's History Month by becoming the first female lieutenant in the Bedford Police Department’s 112-year history.
McGraw was officially promoted from her previous rank of sergeant at a swearing-in ceremony at the town clerk’s office.
The oath of office was administered by Town Clerk Lisbeth Fumagalli and witnessed by Police Chief Melvin Padilla. Following the ceremony, the department called the honor “well-deserved” and offered congratulations.
