Bedford School District Names 2 New Principals

Superintendent Joel Adelberg announced the new principals for Pound Ridge Elementary School and Fox Lane Middle School Wednesday evening.

BEDFORD, NY — There will be new top administrators at Fox Lane Middle School and Pound Ridge Elementary School next school year.

The Bedford Central School District Board of Education on May 19, approved the hiring of Stephanie Bell as principal of Pound Ridge Elementary School and Mary Harrison as Principal of Fox Lane Middle School. Both appointments will take effect on July 1.


"Dr. Stephanie Bell emerged as a very impressive candidate among a large pool of strong candidates for the principalship of Pound Ridge Elementary School," Superintendent Joel Adelberg wrote announcing the hiring. "Dr. Bell is currently the Assistant Principal of Pequenakonck Elementary School, in North Salem ... Dr. Bell taught in Hastings-on-Hudson, Katonah-Lewisboro, and Rye City. Over the course of her teaching career, Dr. Bell has taught at almost every elementary grade level from preschool through grade 5."

Although Bell's career has taken her to schools across the Hudson Valley, her newest position will be something of a homecoming. She is a graduate of Fox Lane High School.


Mary Harrison will be promoted from the position of assistant principal at Fox Lane Middle School to become the school's next principal.

"We are excited to be able to select as our candidate for the principalship, from a large pool of very qualified individuals, a colleague who knows our district and Fox Lane Middle School so well," Adelberg said. He added,"she is an articulate, thoughtful collaborator on many district-level committees. Most importantly, students, families and staff of South House are well supported by Ms. Harrison’s knowledge of curriculum and student learning, and especially her recognition of each individual member of the South House community."
