Calvin Guest: Former Bedford Hills Fire Chief

Mr. Guest was 89.

Wallace Calvin “Cal” Guest passed away on November 23, 2014. He was born in Freeport, Long Island on November 1, 1925 the only child of William Wallace Guest and Frances Millicent Smith Guest.

Cal attended Mepham High School in Merrick, Long Island. He went on to graduate from Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia. Cal married his loving wife Patricia Ann Murphy on September 6, 1953 in Merrick, Long Island.

Cal proudly served his country from 1943-1959 in two wars, WWII and Korea as a United States Marine Corps, Reserve. During that time he was awarded 22 medals and a Purple Heart.

Cal was the proprietor of X-Act Copy of Westchester until his retirement in 1990.

He was a coach for the Mt. Kisco Little League, an assistant wrestling coach at Horace Greeley High School, past president and member of Bedford Hills Lion’s Club, a 33 year member of the Bedford Hills Fire Department where he was Chief from 1991-1992. Also he was a member of the Bedford Hills Fire Commissioners from 1993-2005, and a member of the American Legion Post #136 of Mt. Kisco. He was very active in Boy Scout Troop #1 for many years.

Cal is survived by his loving wife Patricia Ann (Murphy) and their devoted children Brian and his wife Barbara, Rodger and his wife Leslie, Kerry and her husband Charles Williams and Bonnie Guest. He will be missed dearly by his grandchildren William, Thomas, Kristin, Brandon, Kyle, Tyler and great granddaughter Coralynn Williams.

Arrangements were handled by Cassidy- Flynn Funeral Home Inc.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to U.S.M.C. Toys for Tots or The Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
