CrossTalk 2.0 Webinars to Benefit N. Westchester Community Center
Area Experts to Explore Meaning of Current Unprecedented Moment in History in Interdisciplinary Series Starting Tuesday June 30 at 6 PM
CrossTalk 2.0, a series of five half-hour weekly Zoom webinars featuring Northern Westchester area experts addressing aspects of the current complex and unprecedented moment in local history, will debut on Tuesday, June 30th, from 6-6:30 PM. Each program will explore, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the meaning, consequences, and long-term outcomes of COVID-19, social justice issues, and other compelling topics of this time. Every online session will feature two prominent speakers from the political, social, cultural, or spiritual arenas. These experts will be juxtaposed in unlikely and seemingly unrelated pairings but will address the same general topic. Reservations are required, with a minimum contribution of five dollars, at https://communitycenternw.org/crosstalk-20. All proceeds from the series will benefit the Community Center of Northern Westchester, where the number of families coming to the food bank is currently triple the usual volume and the need continues to increase.
CrossTalk 2.0 will feature:
- June 30: Historian Kenneth Jackson with podcaster Avery Trufelman speaking about “reimagining”;
- July 7: U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (D- NY18) with Rabbi Aaron Brusso speaking about “connectedness”;
- July 14: Foreign policy strategist Farah Pandith with JBFC Program Director Brian Ackerman speaking about “resilience”;
- July 21: Artist Bisa Butler (scheduled) with holistic physician Michael Finkelstein speaking about “change”;
- July 28: Westchester Community College President Belinda Miles with Columbia University’s Earth Institute Director Andrew Revkin speaking about “uncertainty”.
The series is the digital successor to CrossTalk, a popular public program the Katonah Museum and Katonah Library co-produced several years ago. Members of the CrossTalk 2.0 Committee, consisting of representatives from several local non-profit organizations, will rotate as hosts of the programs. Committee members include Ellen Calves, Program Director of Bedford 2020 and Town Board member; Allison Chernow, Board Co-Chair of Rehabilitation Through The Arts; Hans Hallunbaek, Director of the Interfaith Prison Partnership; Mary Kane, Director of the Katonah Village Library; Andrew Kuhn, former Katonah Poetry Series Vice President; Karen Sabath, Board President of Bedford 2020; Karin Shiel, Board Co-Chair of RTA and Board Chair of Westchester Youth Alliance; and advisory member Bart Tyler, owner of Kelloggs & Lawrence.
