Live entertainment is fast returning to the Hudson Valley, but common sense remains on the program. This week: drive-in movie & orchestra.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The easing of pandemic-related restrictions is picking up speed across the region, allowing more audience members to once again attend films, stage performances, exhibits, outdoor activities and concerts.
Here are just a few of the best reasons to venture out of the house to enjoy a show. Safety and feeling comfortable in crowds still remain a concern, so we also added a few virtual ways to enjoy a night out without leaving home.

DRIVE-IN MOVIES: Westchester County Screenings Under the Stars — Starting on June 11 and continuing on alternating Friday nights through September, Screenings Under the Stars returns drive-in style, with five family-friendly movies at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla, two at Croton Point Park and one at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers. MYCOLOGY: Mushroom Walk at The Willows at Brandow Point — The mushroom identification walk with Tracey Testo is hosted by the Greene Land Trust. The Greene Land Trust manages the Brandow Point area — a diverse habitat including upland fields, young forest, and mature oak forests bordering the Hudson River. GONE FISHING: New Rochelle Children's Fishing Derby — New Rochelle Parks and Recreation will hold their Annual Children’s Fishing Derby event at the Twin Lakes of Huguenot Parks (in front of New Rochelle High School). FARMERS MARKET: Heart of the Hudson Valley Farmers Market — Opening day. The goal of the market is "to preserve the Hudson Valley’s rich agricultural heritage and traditions.” The Market is held on Saturdays from summer to fall. OUTDOOR ADVENTURE: Walkway over the Hudson Walkway at Night — The Friends of the Walkway present Hudson Valley views after dark from 212 feet above the Hudson River on the world’s longest elevated pedestrian bridge. LIVE MUSIC: The Chappaqua Orchestra — Concerto Winners' Concert at the Paramount Theater in Peekskill. The Chappaqua Orchestra will be performing together for the first time since the spring of 2019.
