Entertaining Reasons To Get Out And About: Pop-up Rocket Museum
Live entertainment returns to the Hudson Valley, but common sense still remains on the program. This week: fossils, farm yoga, Harry Potter.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The easing of pandemic-related restrictions is picking up speed across the region, allowing more audience members to once again attend films, stage performances, exhibits and concerts.
Here are just a few of the best reasons to venture out of the house to enjoy a show. Safety and feeling comfortable in crowds still remains a concern, so we also added a few virtual ways to enjoy a night out without leaving home.
POP-UP MUSEUM: Rockets! - An outdoor pop-up museum where families will build and shoot mini-rockets, test rockets in a wind-tunnel, and assemble a model of NASA’s Space Launch System. Each station features digital tablets with resources and educational content from NASA. PINIC AND A SHOW IN THE PARK: "Something Rotten" - A musical farce in which two brothers set out to write the world’s first musical in a mash-up of sixteenth-century Shakespeare and twenty-first-century Broadway. Tickets start at $15 for students. Picnic boxes from Cranberry's at Tilley Hall may also be purchased through the The New Deal Creative Arts Center box office. YOGA ON THE FARM: RedTail Power Yoga at Fishkill Farms - Enjoy the fresh farm air for weekly Saturday morning yoga sessions with RedTail Power Yoga. All levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. Outdoor yoga is planned for Saturday mornings, now through October from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sessions are $20 and advance reservations are required. Fishkill Farms 845-897-4377

VIRTUAL CHILDREN'S THEATER: "PUFFS," or "Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic" - Harry Potter fan? You don't know the stories until you've seen them through the eyes of the PUFFS. Streaming performance is on June 6, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 each or $36 for a family. ROCKS: Orange County Mineral Show - All things rock, mineral and fossil related, featuring artisans, craftsmen, collectors, dealers and exhibitors glass blowing demonstrations and a black smith. "Harry" The Most Complete Mastodon found in Harriman, NY will be on display. The gem, fossil, mineral and jewelry meet takes place June 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and June 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 or $3 for senior citizens and free for children 12 and under.
