Fox Lane HS Announces 2021 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

BEDFORD, NY — Fox Lane High School has named Sara DaCunha valedictorian and Allison Burg salutatorian for the Class of 2021.

The school notes that both graduating seniors have distinguished themselves as active members of the community who give back by working with younger children while at the same time maintaining the highest academic standards. Both of the honorees plan to continue their studies in the sciences.

Despite her academic success, valedictorian Sara DaCunha lists her work with children in the community as the accomplishment she is the most proud of.

“I take pride in my dedication to the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester,” DaCunha said in a release announcing her achievement of being named first in her class. “My involvement at the Boys and Girls Club has not only become an accomplishment due to my time spent caring for others, but has also served as a window into the world of giving back. This has ultimately fostered my desire to lead a life aspiring to help others.”

DaCunha plans to study Chemistry in the fall.

Salutatorian Allison Burg counts inspiring the district's youngests students to love science as much as she does as being among the most satisfying achievements of her academic career to date.

“I am so proud of starting Girls in STEM Club,” Burg explained. “Watching the club transform from just an idea to a virtual outreach program with Mount Kisco Elementary School, in which I get to see young girls explore their passion for STEM in real time has easily been one of my greatest accomplishments.”

Burg will study Mechanical Engineering at Dartmouth College after graduating.
