Golden's Bridge FD To Sell Christmas Trees
Organizers said that Santa might be seen at times handing out candy canes.

GOLDENS BRIDGE, NY — Looking for a perfect Christmas tree? Hundreds of trees will be available at the Golden’s Bridge Firehouse, as the fire department is poised to kick off a more than two-decades-long tradition when its annual Christmas Tree Sale opens for business on Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving.
The trees will be for sale on the Firehouse grounds on Rt. 138 in Goldens Bridge hamlet.
The tree lot will be open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Members of the Golden’s Bridge Fire Department will voluntarily staff the Christmas Tree Sale and will always be available to carry and tie the tree to your vehicle.

The sale, which runs through the holiday season until the last tree is sold, will feature the popular Fraser fir, 6 feet and up. The trees will be harvested and delivered just days before Thanksgiving, making them the freshest cut trees on the market. Other festive foliage, including wreaths from 12 to 36 inches, will also available.
“Fraser fir needles are durable and longer lasting than most trees, making them the perfect centerpiece for your home décor throughout the holiday season,” said Walter Hughes, a longtime GBFD member and co-chair of the department’s Christmas Tree Sale.

“The fact that our trees are being harvested and delivered just days before Thanksgiving also means these are the freshest trees available — short of going into the woods and cutting one yourself,” he said.
The annual Christmas Tree Sale is the Golden’s Bridge Fire Department’s main fundraiser of the year, according to longtime GBFD member and sale co-chairman Ned Canora, who said that proceeds support department-sponsored community events and programs, civic organizations, department needs and various other activities.
“Residents not only in Golden’s Bridge, but also throughout the Town of Lewisboro as well as nearby Somers, North Salem, Croton Falls and other surrounding communities, have been purchasing their holiday trees at our annual sale for many years. It has become a holiday tradition for them,” Canora said.
Organizers said that, if your timing is right, you just might catch Santa handing out candy canes and helping to get your tree tied to your car.
In addition to the tree sale, the Golden's Bridge Fire Department is in the midst of preparing for its annual Community Children's Holiday Party at the Firehouse, which is scheduled this year from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15. The event will include crafts, food, fire truck rides, free raffle prizes and, of course, a visit by Santa.
