John Jay Vocal Jazz Group Takes Second in Boston

More than 35 students are involved.

The John Jay Vocal Jazz Ensemble took second place at the Berklee High School Jazz Festival, a competition the group has attended for the last decade, in Boston Saturday.

Steven Morse, the district's music and performing arts instructional leader, is proud of the accomplishment—and the fact that the first-place winner was just a single point ahead.

"The John Jay students performed beautifully and represented our school and community with pride and respect," Morse said.
