Katonah Swim and Dive Takes 3rd at Division II Championships
Five swimmers and one relay earn All-Star spots

Brian Crane and Elizabeth Gaza won two individual events each at the Division II Championships held at Lewisboro, and punched their ticket to the All-Star Meet. Jay Kramer, Scott Esposito and Katherine O’Donnell also earned a berth at All-Stars with their wins and the 8U girls relay took first place for Katonah.
Katonah as a team came in third behind division champion Lewisboro and second place Mount Kisco. In their regular season meets, Katonah tied with Lewisboro and suffered its only loss to Mount Kisco.
Elizabeth Gaza swam to a first-place finish in both the 8U fly and freestyle events. She was undefeated in freestyle for the regular season and suffered only 1 defeat in fly. Brian Crane took the top spots for the division in 14U fly and freestyle, keeping his undefeated season going in the fly. Katonah performed strongly in freestyle, ending up with 4 first-place finishes, with Katherine O’Donnell taking the girls 6U and Scott Esposito grabbing the 10U boys event. Second place finishes went to Thomas Brown in 8U, Jessica Crane in 10U and Kaz Sampson in 18U.

Jay Kramer was the lone breaststroke winner for Katonah in 10U, with Daniela Dziedzic taking 2nd for the 8U girls. Backstroke didn’t feature any first places for Katonah, but three swimmers took second: Jessica Crane, Jack Buckley and Sam Sweeney. In butterfly, Katonah earned second place points from Scott Esposito, Kieran Brown and Maya Luongo.
The always crowd-pleasing 8U girls relay went right to the wire, with the Katonah relay touching out by less than a second. Daniela Dziedzic, Molly Buckley, Katherine O’Donnell and Elizabeth Gaza were the victorious relay, securing a trip to All-Stars.
