I first met Don Scott as a Bedford Hills baseball Little League Coach, where he showed impressive leadership and communication abilities among the boys, the parents, the opposing team, and the league.   His son was one of his players, but unlike many coaches, I immediately sensed that his motivation wasn’t to advocate his son’s standing, but one of genuine concern for the team and the love of the game.
Through the years, I came to know Don personally.   I learned he was a creative and successful businessman with a strong sense of community.   Our conversations often entered into the areas of family, local education, the environment, and where the Town of Bedford was headed.  What would start out as a casual chat about youth baseball or yesterday’s game, would often veer to Don’s observations of the world, and how we should all try to get involved  in shaping the future, if not for ourselves, then for the benefit of our children.Â
I was very pleased to hear that Don is running for Bedford Town Supervisor.  It is a natural progression for him based on his service to the Katonah-Lewisboro School Board, his long-standing advocacy for Bedford’s clean water and open space, and his genuine concern for today’s youth.   His business background, leadership and communication skills, and longevity in the town make him an ideal person for this important position.

Don’s experience has made him knowledgeable, savvy and observant on community issues, such as taxes, worker productivity, education, and the environment –important issues for Bedford.  I am confident he will be a good leader and make fair and well-thought out decisions on these matters that are communicated well to us all.    The judgment he has shown in his private life bodes well for a town administration that will be sensitive to the needs and desires of its citizens and taxpayers. Â
Don will be great Town Supervisor.  I hope you join me in supporting Don’s candidacy in the election, and in his service to Bedford for years to come.
