Memorial Day Events 2021: Bedford-Katonah

As pandemic-related restrictions ease, in-person Memorial Day ceremonies honoring the sacrifices of our military are returning this year.

BEDFORD, NY — Longstanding events to honor the sacrifices of America's soldiers will take place in Bedford, Katonah, Lewisboro and Pound Ridge once again in 2021.

This Memorial Day, Bedford area towns and hamlets will host remembrance ceremonies again. The events will allow in-person attendance for those who wish to show their respect.

The Bedford Memorial Day parade presented with the Katonah American Legion Post 1575 will return this year. The parade will follow the traditional route starting at 10 a.m. Remembrance ceremonies at Lawrence Circle and the Katonah Fire Department will be kept brief to encourage social distancing.

The fire department reports that the annual KFD parade and carnival have already been postponed and will hopefully be rescheduled later in the year.

Lewisboro will host a solemn Memorial Day ceremony on the Lewisboro Town House lawn. The events will begin at noon and include speakers honoring fallen military members and a wreath laying. Flags will be raised from half staff to full staff and taps will be played at the abridged in-person ceremony.

Pound Ridge will go ahead with the 2021 Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony at noon. The traditional parade route will follow a path from Pound Ridge Elementary School to a remembrance ceremony at the cemetery. The memorial will be followed by a BBQ with live music at Town Park.
