No Boredom Allowed: Music in the Area this Weekend
Here are some music events and other things to do for a summer weekend.

In this region of the state there is no excuse to be bored. How about some melody for a summer evening? Or an art show?
Here are some suggestions in the area in the next few days.
- The 'Music in the Park' Fundraiser Series at Lasdon Park in Somers will present Chamomile & Whiskey on Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The group performs folk-rock and Americana. The gates open at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $10 per person for all ages. All sales will be at the door; no pre-sales. Food and beverages, ncluding beer, wine, pretzels, and hot dogs will be available for purchase. Payment can be made by cash or credit card. The proceeds benefit Lasdon’s glass house conservatory project. The event will be cancelled in case of bad weather. Lasdon Park, Arboretum, and Veterans Memorial is located on Route 35 in Somers. - A group of artists has brought a successful exhibit, “Breaking Surface,” to Peekskill from New York City. consists of photographs and moving image artworks which explore the border between water and air. “Breaking Surface” is at Gallery @ The Flatz, 1008 Main Street, Peekskill, NY 10566. The show runs from June 30 - August 30. The gallery is open Fridays-Sundays, and M-TH by appointment. Read the full article here.
- CHIRP Concerts will present Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Ballard Park in Ridgefield. In the event of rain, concerts will be moved to The Ridgefield Playhouse. Ballard Park is at 316 Main Street in Ridgefield. - Arts on the Lake will hold an outdoor concert by the Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra on Friday on the north lawn at the Arts Center. The orchestra is an 11-piece band that plays dynamic dura arrangements of indie rock tunes featuring TV on the Radio, Arcade Fire, Spoon, LCD Soundsystem and some of the best young players on the scene. Bring a chair or a blanket and food and beverages. Refreshments and some picnic food will be available for purchase. In the event of rain, the concert will be held indoors at the Center. The concerts for the Summer Series are all "pay-what-you-wish" events. Arts on the Lake is at 640 Route 52 in Lake Carmel. For further information, click here.
- Playland Park in Rye will present 'Big Band on the Boardwalk' on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Dance to the sounds of the Swing Era with the Milt Gerver Big Band. Playland is on Playland Parkway in Rye. Call (914) 813-7010 for more information. There is a fee for parking. You can get more information here.
