Obituary: Peter Stuart Loesch Of Katonah Dies At 65
Peter Stuart Loesch graduated from John Jay High School in Cross River.

Peter Stuart Loesch passed away at 1:35 in the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, New York City. Peter was born at 3:05 in the morning on Nov. 13, 1953, at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica, Queens, New York. Peter attended Saint Mary’s Catholic School in Katonah, New York and provided his service as an altar boy with his brothers, David and Stephen. Peter graduated from John Jay High School in Cross River, New York, in 1972 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in May 1973. Peter was honorably discharged a few years later and moved back to Westchester County.
Peter married Liza Maar on Dec. 16, 1989. The couples’ shared love of horses and animals brought them together and culminated in a marriage on their beloved horses, Cody and Bradley, in the Pound Ridge Reservation.
Peter attended Oklahoma Horseshoeing School and received a Certificate of Completion, becoming a Blacksmith on June 9, 1990. In addition to the work with his beloved horses and other farmyard animals at Barn Brook Farm in Pound Ridge, New York, Peter worked as an arborist for Mill River Tree Service. Peter spent his final years working with an established non-profit organization, Animal Nation, Inc. In one way or another, he spent his entire life rehabilitating and raising orphaned, abandoned, and injured wild animals.

Peter is preceded in death by his parents, Francis Albert Loesch and Mary Jane Stuart Loesch. Peter is survived by his two daughters, Samantha Mary Francis Loesch and Alison Hazel Loesch; the son he never had, Patrick Moore; a beloved dog, Dixie; two parrots, Sassy and Ringo, and countless raccoons, squirrels, white-tailed deer, red-tailed hawks, crows, turtles, frogs, possums, owls, and more who are freely roaming where Peter loved to be; in the woods of Pound Ridge.
There will be a funeral at Saint Mary’s Church of the Assumption in Katonah, New York, where Peter was baptized and belonged to as a child with his family, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. There will be a celebration of life and luncheon at the Lake Kitchawan Club House at 167 Lake Kitchawan Drive in South Salem from noon to 4 p.m. (or sunset).
