Play Ball! Bedford Unveils Polished Diamond In Memorial Park
Improvements to the bigger, better baseball field at Memorial Park might give the girls and boys of summer a leg up on the competition.
BEDFORD, NY — Visitors might not immediately notice the upgrades to the baseball field at Memorial Park, but fledgling players are already reaping the benefits.
The just unveiled Parks and Recreation Department field improvement project was completed in cooperation with the Bedford Pound Ridge Baseball Association. In addition to looking great, the renovated baseball diamond will change the way America's pastime is played in town.
Crews expanded the clay infield and installed a regulation 50/70 field at the Bedford Pound Ridge fenced Little League field. The field now can host both games played on regulation 46/60 fields (46 foot pitching distance with 60 feet between bases) and on regulation 50/70 diamonds (50 foot pitching distance and 70 feet between bases).
