School Closure Public Hearing; Elections

1. The Katonah-Lewisboro School District announced that it will have another school closure public hearing. It will be on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at John Jay Middle School. The district's School Closure Task Force is considering whether or not Lewisboro Elementary School should be closed, with efficiency and long-term financial situation cited. Parents have protested the proposal, arguing the savings are not enough to justify the closure or that demographic data used to justify it is suspect.

2. Local elections will be held on Tuesday, including for Bedford town government offices, Westchester County Executive and Westchester County legislators. Check back later for coverage.

3. On Thursday the Katonah-Lewisboro school board will hold a regular meeting, according to an announcement. It will be at 7:30 p.m. at the John Jay High School library, with agenda items expected to include a class size presentation and discussion of priorities for the 2014-15 budget. 

4. The Bedford Town Board will meet, according to its agenda, on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. The agenda includes a public hearing for taxi cab governance and discussion about speeding on Route 172. The agenda can be found at this link.

5. The Bedford Zoning Board of Appeals will meeting on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m., according to its agenda. Applications include the variance request from Stepping Stones for its Katonah property. The agenda is at this link.

6. The Katonah Museum of Art (KMA) announced that it's holding "Portrait Tour of Katonah's Cultural Gems." It will be on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the museum.
